Found object Assemblages & Painted Travertine tiles
carolo1011954@hotmail.com
Carol creates assemblage and sculpture from natural and recycled materials and found objects. The work is subtly augmented with paint. Her portraits of animals are rendered on classic Travertine tiles found in Wyoming hot springs.
For Carol, the process of creative expression allows for a mental stillness that is meditative. She finds freedom of choice, the search, the discovery, and the solitude are a restorative blend. A deep connection to the natural world is evident throughout her work.
Having been raised on the Palisade cliffs overlooking the Hudson River and the Manhattan skyline, Carol Aileen Ortlip has lived in New Hampshire since 1988. A fourth-generation artist, Carol has been producing creative work since the early 1970s.
