Artist’s Statement
I am a lifelong learner, drawn to exploring a wide variety of media and ideas. In my twenties, I had some success as a magazine illustrator, but I soon realized that I was more interested in depicting my own visions than interpreting someone else’s. That realization set me on a lifelong path of creative exploration.
Alongside painting, I’ve been a parent, animator, restaurant designer. writer and video producer — each role shaping how I see and express the world. As in my artwork, I’ve always been curious, open to change, and eager to try new forms of expression. Whether working in paint, ceramics, printmaking, or collage, I am passionate about creating images that emerge directly from my own experiences and perceptions.
Early on, I was fortunate to study with a wonderful artist who taught me how to develop a personal language—a visual symbolism rooted in what feels deeply true to me. That foundation continues to guide my work. My hope is that my work, grounded in personal truth, can resonate with others, at least on a subliminal level, and create a shared sense of connection. When that happens, it is a profound joy.
