Artist STatement
I love scavenging for “experienced" objects, recognizing their shape and form, rather than function or by the context by which I know they them. I appreciate the ordinary as well as the exotic or extravagant. The curve in a spindle, the patina of chipped paint or oxidized metal, the grain of weathered hardwood, bobbins, latches and all sorts of odds and ends inspire me to integrate a variety of materials, textures and color. I create something new with old and discarded relics. Over time things weather and change and this can be beautiful and graceful when brought together.
My artistic journey revolves around the transformative power of reclamation and reinterpretation. With careful curation, I breathe new life into these remnants, crafting visual tales that resonate with both nostalgia and innovation.
I aim to uncover the inherent beauty in the weathered and the imperfect, offering a fresh perspective on what is often overlooked. Each piece is a testament to the potential of discarded relics becoming part of a greater whole and are cherished treasures once again. I invite viewers to reconsider their notions of value and aesthetics.
