Stained Glass

I’m Kristin Cambray, a local Vermont artist, and I’m delighted to share my artwork with you! I started making stained glass several years ago and quickly became obsessed. The colors, textures, swirls, and ridges make every piece of glass beautiful and unique.
Over the years, I’ve been fortunate to buy an assortment of vintage glass from retiring artists. Because many historic glass manufacturers closed during the pandemic, much of the glass that I use is not just beautiful, but also now irreplaceable.
Rather than cutting these precious sheets of glass into small pieces to fit traditional patterns, I try to preserve as much of this antique glass as possible by reimagining it as the sky, water, wind, sunrises or sunsets. I use copper foil overlay- the historic Tiffany glass method- to unite pieces of glass and add scenes, movement, and dimension directly onto the glass itself.
I’m inspired by nature and our Vermont surroundings, so I enjoy finding ways to include trees, animals, and birds in my work- especially the cows and chickens that I can see from my studio.
Every piece is handcrafted using lead-free solder.
